Specializing in Internet, Cybersex and Porn

That’s an odd blog title, eh? But it is true~ I hesitate to add “Addiction” as the last word of this post title because there is such debate in the field about whether sex addiction or internet addiction exists. So let’s just say, if you are struggling with finding balance in your life, and things like the internet and porn seem to be skewing your world, then that’s where I come in.

My interest in this area stems from working  with adult survivors of abuse and working  with people who have addictions. Many times there is a connection between past abuse and addictive behavior. As my interest about mental health and technology grew, I became aware of the vast amount of people who have begun to struggle with compulsions related to the internet. Since I am comfortable with cyber-culture, it only makes sense that my practice has headed in this direction.

My private practice is in Atlantic Highlands, NJ and I see individuals. I receive lots of phone calls for couples counseling but I do not see couples in the traditional sense. I do bring a partner into the session occasionally if the client and I both think this might be helpful.

I do not participate in insurance panels but I can supply an invoice that can be submitted to insurance. I am considered an out-of-network provider.  I also see my in-person clients online.  Occasionally clients cannot make an appointment or they are out of town but still want to check in. I specialize in text-based therapy so I utilize chat or email with my existing face-to-face clients. It works well and it is convenient!
